In 1991, I watched a pretty Mexican girl, Lupita Jones, win the title of Miss Universe 1991. She had the lovely pixie face of Audrey Hepburn.
She was so commanding on stage in every round. It was just impossible to see other contestants that year. I didn't think she had a very beautiful face, but there was something about her. There was something very queenly about her.
My exboyfriend even got her to sign a photograph in which he posted to me. Unfortunately, it's lost with the years. Lupita Jones now organizes the Miss Mexico beauty pageant.
I hope this year, her charge will win another crown.
