I was happy to see the results of Miss USA 2010 go to Michigan, where I lived while going to university! It's been a long time since anyone from Michigan managed to get any ranking in the Miss USA pageants.
However, the big surprise was she was not one of the 4 beautiful blondes in the top 5. In fact, she was the very black-haired Arabic features girl, born in Lebanon. That makes America great, that a naturalized citizen, a former immigrant, could be Miss USA. The same for Arnold Schwarzeneggar and Obama, of black-white parentage. I'm glad to see that there is a politically-correct USA, and that an American is not hampered or limited in their access to success by their skin colour or where they are born. Bravo!
I watched the Miss USA 2010 pageant clips on youtube and I still wasn't sure why they picked Rima Fakih. I can see she looked lovely in her white evening gown, with the contrast of jet black hair, and dewy Mediterranean skin.
She didn't get very high scores for both the swimsuits and evening gown. (But thank you designers, now I can use orange & pink together for a design and know that they don't clash badly!)
